AZA SAFE: Saving Animals From Extinction

The SAFE program is world-wide collaborative effort towards animal conservation and has provided resources and collective expertise towards helping to save species and promote the protection of wildlife.
Andean Bear SAFE
The Andean Bear SAFE program was first launched in August 2019. The focus on the program is to raise awareness of this vulnerable and elusive species, highlight and carry out conservation efforts, and help determine ways to mitigate threats to the species.
The Andean Bear SAFE program is currently working on its action plan, which details the various focuses of our SAFE program and how our SAFE program members and partners will carry these focuses to success. This program aims to raise awareness about Andean Bear populations and habitats, through use of public engagement, funding efforts, and conservation work.
